Everyday No MakeUp Makeup In 5 minutes or Less

Everyday No MakeUp Makeup In 5 minutes or Less

I am not a makeup guru by any means, however, over the years I really believe I have perfected the no makeup makeup look. Or as I like to call it, the “I’m walking my dog in pjs under this sweatshirt but there’s a chance I might run into someone I know and I don’t want to look as unemployed as I am” look.

You won’t need any tools here because this is the daily makeup guide for lazy people.

Prep with a toner!

My morning routine is a water-less one because I read on Garance Doré that water is not good for your face. I’ve been using toner to clean my face in the morning since before I read that on her blog, but like she’s French and no one does skin care better than the French. For me it’s also preferable to not use water because once your face is all wet you have to dry it and blah it’s too hard. I just put a little toner on a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face. There’s some gentle exfoliation and the cotton pad gets all dirty so you know you’re clean!

I use a rose toner because I heard it’s what the French do and the Burt’s Bees one is was what I could find at the time of purchase. I don’t love it because it does contain alcohol, but since my favorite Estée Lauder alcohol-free toner was discontinued I had to search for a replacement. I’ve tried ones from Biotherm and Kiehl’s but I didn’t like them as much as this one. I like to finish products before buying new ones, so I’ve also included the link to the toner I’m buying once this one runs out.

The one I use: Burt’s Bees Rosewater Toner.  The one I’m buying next: Thayer’s Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner. To save $10 off a purchase of $40 use the code: Booitsbloo.

Brows!

While the toner dries off, I get right into doing some light brow work. I just fill them in a little and very lightly so my brows don’t look patchy and stick them in place with some gel. Alternatively, I use an old, somewhat dried up mini-tube of mascara (the kind I get in gift with purchases) and just like…swipe it on. I just always happen to have one of those old tubes in the bottom of my travel bag and got resourceful one day. I liked the results.

I love multi products because I can’t be bothered to a) purchase two products when I can just buy one b) keep track of that many products.

Mascara!

Waterproof! I always use waterproof! I have been a loyal fan of Estée Lauder’s until this summer when it decided to try going for a walk down my face… I thought maybe the formula had started to break down because the tube was kind of old. (No, I don’t replace mascaras as often and you’re “supposed to” but I just like them better when they become stale. Once they’re partially dried up they don’t run. I swear.)

So in Milan I went over to Sephora to find the cheapest waterproof I could find. I bought Too Faced’s Better Than Sex waterproof mascara. Idk who named this one but rest assured, they’re having the worst sex imaginable. It was like black tar. Not only did it’s waxy composition melt down my face in the heat, but it was impossible to take off. The stuff stayed on for days, not that I cared that much, but it did start to clump. Anyways, now that I don’t live in Milan anymore, I don’t need to worry as much. The Too Faced mascara is 10000% better stale and my old trusty is as fine as it ever was.

Moisturizer!

I like to use a tinted moisturizer with SPF in the summer. If I don’t want to go for the tint I use Estée Lauder’s DayWear  with SPF 25. I switch between a 20 SPF and 30 SPF option. One is from Caudalíe and the other is Estée Lauder. I’ve also tried drug store brands, Korean brands, but these are the best.  Both, unfortunately, are not easy to find. The Estée Lauder one seems to be discontinued and the Caudalíe one is currently only available in Europe.

Concealer!

I don’t care what anyone says, this is the best concealer. It’s concealer perfection. For spots around the face, I prefer to use MAC’s cream concealer but if I only have 5 minutes? I’m just tackling the see-through skin under the eyes. I also have a different concealer if I have more time, but because of the applicator I’ve mostly abandoned it because it isn’t as fast.

This is where I might leave my makeup for the day. If I have the willpower I might find myself progressing to the next 3 or 4 steps.

Definition!

(Bonus step!) My Benefit Hoola Bronzer came in a kit from Sephora because I like mini kits (I don’t use very much, and I’m often tight on space), which is why the packaging looks different. However, good news for you if you also don’t use a lot of make-up because they have a mini size for only $20.

De-ghost!

Okay, so for a little bit of blusher, I might go for either my Albeit shimmer stick or my Nudestix lip+cheek pencil. My Nudestix always has legs of its own so it’s usually the shimmer stick.

Eyes!

I’ve been really inspired by Haim makeup lately. So I just grab a neutral shade and just color away.

The exact set I have from Sephora: Nude(art)ist Magnetic Eye Box Set  (it’s such a good deal for 6 full size products!)  Magnetic Eye Color directly from Nudestix: Luminous Shades and Matte Shades

Lips!

Okay, soooo no surprise, my go to are my Nudestix. However, if I’m feeling fancy I’ll put on a sheer layer of Chanel lipgloss. Which is, might I add, the most moisturizing lip product ever, Vaseline included. I learnt this because nothing else would soothe my VERY sunburnt lips.

Everyday: Nudestix Lip+Cheek Fancy days/Sunburnt days: Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in 756 Chilli

Fancy Finish!

Idk what this stuff does, I didn’t even know it was a cult product. I just walked into Caudalie, the lady sprayed it on me, I liked how it felt and smelt, I bought it. I have it in the travel size because, once again, everything I use has to be able to come with me on a carry-on.

Aaannndddd TIME! That’s all the time I can dedicate to my face. There you have it.
